I started this as a blog to follow my vision therapy progress way back in 2013 and then when things got difficult, I didn’t share the struggles. My desire for this to be a positive place overshadowed being real and vulnerable. Over the course of the next few years, I gained the results I was seeking, briefly shared my success, and let it go– when I should have been shouting from the rooftops! Vision therapy works! And it’s ok if sometimes surgery is also required. I felt so much disappointment in myself that I succumbed to surgery, that it overshadowed celebrating my great achievement!
I shifted into podcasting in 2020, launching the Healing Our Sight Podcast. Today I took a look at the statistics over the past 12 years and decided that maybe if I had posted more helpful content here on my blog, readers would have followed. Thank you to those who have subscribed and stuck with me over all these years!
I like places where it’s easy to find the resources I desire, so my promise moving forward is to post the content I wish was easy to find previously. When I have a thought to share something, I WILL DO IT! I am upgrading the website to include my podcast and other endeavors so look for big changes coming up!
One of the most epic experiences of my life was the time I spent teaching English in China from August 2024-June 2025. The culmination of that was delivering my TEDx talk at Nanjing International School in Nanjing, China on June 7, 2025. There were nine speakers, seven were students at the school, one was a teacher at the school, and then there was me. I am still overwhelmed reflecting on the experience. I am so grateful that the organizers believed in me and pushed me to make my talk even better. The recording has been live on the YouTube TEDx channel for a couple of months now. While I still wish my delivery had been stronger, I am grateful that it has already reached so many people, 79,000+ and counting. Today, I have a simple ask. If you haven’t yet watched my TEDx talk, will you watch all eleven minutes, like, comment and share? And if you have watched it, liked it and commented, will you share it? I believe that vision is so much more than we realize and can always improve. I’ll be sharing more about that soon!
